How to Clean a Desk Mat

Your desk mat sees it all, especially if you are like me spending long hours on workig.  From early mornings to late evenings, day after day, it naturally collects dust, hand oils, coffee splashes, and everyday marks.

The easiest way to clean a fabric desk mat is with mild soap, lukewarm water, and a soft cloth or sponge. Usually just a spot cleaning will do just fine, but if you need to wash the whole desk mat, it is best to hand wash it. Gently scrub the surface in circular motions, rinse with clean water, and let it air dry completely before placing it back on your desk. Avoid harsh chemicals or strong detergents.

Is a Desk Mat Machine Washable?

In most cases, it’s best not to put a desk mat in the washing machine. Fabric desk mats with stitched edges and a non-slip rubber base can lose their shape or weaken at the seams when machine washed or spun. Heat can also affect the rubber backing. Hand washing keeps the material smooth, protects the stitching, and helps preserve the print for longer.
